HYDE PARK HISTORICAL SOCIETY’S OAK WOODS CEMETERY PROJECT

Please visit the Hyde Park Historical Society’s Oak Woods Cemetery Project here. It is an ongoing project to document and make accessible the histories of this important South Side cemetery and the lives of its residents.

STUDENT PROJECTS

For their final project, students in Dr. Pranathi Diwakar’s Spring 2025 undergraduate and graduate course, “Social Life and Death in the City” completed audio essays and zines, along with essays, with stories of Oak Woods Cemetery and its residents. Students’ audio essays were broadcast on Lumpen Radio, a Chicago-based community radio station.
