Listen Here! Remembering Eddie Harris with the Junius Paul Sextet
A celebration of the Chicago-born musician Eddie Harris (1934 - 1996) at his resting place, Oak Woods Cemetery, with a conversation on his musical impact between Professors Travis Jackson and Adam Green, followed by a performance by the Junius Paul Sextet.
Venue: Oak Woods Cemetery Chapel, 1035 E. 67th St. Chicago IL, 60637
Time: 11 am - 1 pm, followed by lunch
Free and open to all.
The Junius Paul Sextet includes musicians Junius Paul (bass), Marqueal Jordan (saxophone and vocals), Justin Dillard (keyboards), Sam Jewell (drums), Chris Paquette (percussion), and Larry Brown (guitar).
This event is co-sponsored by the Martin Marty Center for the Public Understanding of Religion, Oak Woods Cemetery, the University of Chicago’s Chicago Studies Center, the Music Department, and the Department of Race, Diaspora, and Indigeneity.
